This is a little, out-of-the-ordinary blog post to announce the arrival of my new poetry book, (You Broke Me) Open, available on Amazon (Kindle and print), iBooks, and as a PDF. The link to purchase my book is in the menu at the top of the page or click right here: http://thoughtcatalog.com/book/you-broke-me-open/
In case you are interested in the background of the book, it sort of goes hand in hand with this whole blog. I began writing for the blog right at the start of the summer in 2016. Before that, I always had the idea to write a book or start a blog, as both a creative outlet for a soft-spoken person like myself, and a way of helping people who may struggle in their relationships. I wanted it to be relatable and show both men and women that you can struggle in your life, and still get exactly where you want to be.
I believe everyone’s life is part of one giant plan that is mapped out, and although it is up to us to navigate it, I think that we ultimately are guided through and can sense where we are supposed to be out of pure instinct and intuition. No matter what you believe in, we all have the ability to sense what is right and wrong, whatever that may mean to us. That instinct is what guides us through our lives, relationships, break ups, and pretty much any decision that we do or do not make.
Every decision I have made in my life has led me to this story. Although it is based off of a recent break up (as are most of the articles on my blog thus far), I anticipate my poetry and writing following me where ever my path may lead. Through happier times, and sad times, I will find a way to connect it back to a pen and paper. Opening up about my past and heart break has been my way of reflecting and growing, and I want nothing more than to share my journey with all of you.
I appreciate everyone who has read my blog posts, and hope that they may have helped you in some small way, even if it’s just to feel something. Any feeling that we have should not be ignored, because it can lead us to where we ultimately want to be.
This book is a product of every feeling I had in the past year, and although some of it seems depressing, it is all very real and raw. Those feelings brought me to this exact moment, and for that, I am grateful. I am ready to move on to bigger and better things and want to help anyone else who feels like they are ready to give up.
I have trusted my instincts thus far, and it has given me something to be extremely proud of. What started as a small endeavor to write about my personal issues as an outlet, turned into a blog, published articles, and now this poetry book.
So, with that I say thank you all for being on this journey with me! I hope if you plan on purchasing the book, you can write to me or tell me what you think! I am open to any feedback. I plan on writing more and know that my writing will grow as I continue to embrace whatever comes my way.
I hope that you continue to support my writing and know that no matter what you are going through, the hardest times often lead to the greatest rewards. Just be patient, trust life, trust your instincts, and I promise you it will always get better.
